In the Blink of an Eye

In the blink of an eye,
You could have a revelation,
See the world anew.

In the blink of an eye,
You could fall to pieces,
Kneel down and cry.

In the blink of an eye,
You could win the jackpot,
See your dreams come true.

In the blink of an eye,
You could lose everything,
Be humbled by the odds.

In the blink of an eye,
You could fall in love,
See yourself fulfilled.

In the blink of an eye,
You could die...

Shy

She threw me a long lingering look and I felt like I was lost.I wanted to grab her and lose myself in a passionate kiss. But I didn't.I was afraid.
Something inside stopped me.I just kept looking at her, feeling completely helpless.
Her smile sent me in a daze.I felt otherworldly.I couldn't say a word.I only wanted to look into her eyes, to get lost in the blue abyss that they were.
She was mumbling something I couldn't understand.I couldn't because I only wanted to taste her lips, to feel the sweet sensation of a kiss.Yet, I only stood there watching her.Because I was afraid, afraid to spoil the moment...

Love

Don't shy, look me in the eyes,
Let me dream of bluest skies.

Let me see that rascally smile,
It will cheer me up a while.

Tell me stories old and new,
Fill my soul and heart with you.

Leave me all alone to pine,
Asking why you can't be mine,
Wondering if you want more,
Or if I was just a bore.

Victor(3)

The man behind the counter keeps moving his lips, but the words seem to elude Victor. He stares blankly into the man's eyes while his mind is being invaded by panic and uncertainty.Could he suspect him of something? Can this be traced back to him?Shouldn't he have bought it on the streets? Is he really going to go through with it?Is this what he is to become?
A loud "Mister!" wakes him from his daze.He looks at the man for a few seconds not realizing what he is doing there. Then he looks down on the counter and sees it.Small, heavy, shiny. He picks it up, opens the barrel takes a long look, then utters something about bullets.
He picks up the small box and the gun, slides some bills on the counter and heads to the door.He stops in front of it, takes a good look at the gun then glances at the clerk. The man is rearranging some rifles on a shelf.Victor opens the door and heads for his car.
Inside, he opens the glove compartment, throws the newly aquired items inside then, with an absent look on his face puts the car into drive and heads for the town exit.

Why I like her

It's in the way she looks at me and turns me to puddy. It's in the way she smiles every time I utter something stupid, pretending it's actually funny. It's all about the way she gracefully plays with her fingers, while I'm ranting on about nonsense. It's how she acts when I'm around, somehow bringing out the best in me.
  That's why I like her...

Happy place

Take a deep breath.Relax.Imagine yourself somewhere safe, somewhere peaceful.Imagine you have no worries, no immediate thing to do.You have all the time in the world to do whatever pleases you.You are surrounded by people you love and who love you back, uncoditionally. You are happy.
Now take this feeling, bury it deep inside, and use it everytime you are upset, angry or sad.Just don't abuse it to the point it becomes regret.

Thyself

Sometimes you open yourself so much to everything that what's inside you disappears...

Victor(2)

The small town seems deserted as he drives around, looking for a place to warm himself up.The moon hides behind clouds and the light shone by the few lampposts that decorate the main street barely keeps the dark at bay.Up ahead, in the distance he hears the sound of what seems to be country music and, as he drives up to the building he realizes it's a small bar, contributing to the nightlife of this quiet mountain town.
After parking nearby, he stands still, staring into the darkness ahead, before opening the glove compartment and checking if it's still there. As he walks toward the bar he shivers from the cold and a certain feeling of unease settles in.
Inside, the music plays in the background, a wailing voice to a guitar, and the few people spending their evening in the establishment turn their heads and gawk at the new arrival. He walks over to the bar and asks for a beer. The bartender gives him an ominous look, before handing him the bottle, yet he asks no questions.
Victor takes a sip of the cold, bitter liquid and slowly starts realizing what he is to do the next day.Suddenly the feeling that he is being watched envelops him.He can hardly refrain himself from looking around. The beer barely goes down as he sneaks a peek at the only other person at the counter.A decrepit old man who seems on the verge of unconsciousness.Gazing blankly at the bottle in front of him, Victor mumbles something to himself.A moment later he stands up, throws a couple of dollars on the counter and exits hastily.
Inside the car he drops his head on the wheel, taking slow, deep breaths. With his eyes closed, he opens the glove compartment again, feeling his way around, until he touches the cold metal. He lifts his head, looking straight forward and starts the car.

The fine things in life

Feast your eyes on beauty,
Indulge yourself in pleasure,
Revel in luxury,
And realize it's all deception.

Victor

As the sun slowly disappears behind the mountains, Victor takes one last smoke and throws the cigarette away. One lingering look at the crimson sky and he heads for the door. The cabin seems small in the mountain landscape, secluded as it is from the tiny village two miles away.
The wood cracks as he steps onto the porch, his head between his shoulders, his hands stuck deep in his pockets. He takes a good look at the door, noticing a peculiar, almost unnoticeable scratch near the handle.Almost as if someone or something was trying to claw it's way inside. The paint, in its thickness, had almost covered the mark.
He breathes in, and stepping back he smashes his foot against the door.A loud noise, the lock snaps and the door is flung open.He then draws his gun and in the blink of an eye he is in, pointing his gun at his unsuspecting victim.A tall, middle-aged man, with balding grey hair gets to look Victor in the eyes, his panic filling the room. He's trying to articulate something, but he gags, his lips moving without uttering a sound. It doesn't last long, as two bullets pierce his body, one bursting through his chest, another through his skull. The body slips on the leathery couch, leaving a trace of blood smeared all over.
Victor tucks the gun in his pants, while exiting the cabin. On the porch again, he stops for a second, his eyes staring blankly at the ground in front of him.He exhales loudly and starts moving towards the nearby woods where he had left his car, without looking back for one second.

The Barrel of Lies

On the outskirts of the city,
Lies a barrel full of lies.
On the outskirts of the city,
Did I find this awkward prize.

In the dimming light of dusk,
Stood I watching it in awe.
In the darkness of the night,
Dared I gaze inside the wood.

In the early light of dawn,
Emptied its contents I did.
In the hectic life of day,
Felt I like the barrel's pawn.

Destination

The alley is dark and claustrophobic. The walls seem to close in on you as you move towards a dim light ahead. The canal holes' steam covers everything with a mist, giving the hole place an ominous vibe. You hurry along your path, without looking back, terrified that there might be someone behind. The light flickers at times, and at those times your heart starts beating faster, because you know that light is the only thing that drives you, the only thing that keeps you going. So you start running.Faster and faster, breathing heavily, stumbling past dumpsters and cartboard boxes.
And finally you reach it, and see that it's just the light from a bus station. You drag yourself to the lady behind the counter, and mumble something, without being able to realize what. She asks you where you're headed, and you reply:
-I don't know...

The sky is falling

It's night and yet the darkness shyes away. The fires burn slowly, casting shadows of uncertainty all around me.I stand a bit confused among the flames, not willing to admit that I'm seeing it.Every house on the street is in shambles, each and every one consumed by heat.I take a couple of steps through the wreckage and realize I'm barefooted.I look down at my feet and raise my eyebrows.I can't feel anything and yet their covered with blood. My blood.I can still see it gushing from the wounds.
I stumble to the ground when a huge piece of burning rock lands a couple of metres away, causing tiny chips of wood and pieces of unknown material to spread all around in the air, like shrapnel from an explosion.I look up and see the sky dotted with such burning meteors, racing towards the surface of the earth, ready to set fire to whatever place that's still intact.Trying to find the moon, my eyes stumble on what seems to be a cloud of dust. And I realize I am looking at the moon.
My ears are soon hit by the noise surrounding me.Dozens of people screaming, crying, moaning in pain.Next to me, a man torn in half is crawling towards his lower half scratching at the pavement.Farther away, a scared little girl keeps screaming for her mommy, whose remains can hardly resemble what used to be a human.
Before panic envelops me, I see her.Distressed and yet still radiating beauty as she walks towards me.And I let myself go.I forget about pain ,fear, panic, horror, reason. And I walk towards her.
The sky is falling, but I'm alright, because she's here...

Alone in the dark

You're all alone, and every step you take echoes in your head loudly. You're all alone and surrounded by darkness.Your sense of touch is your guide, feeling the wall beside you, taking comfort in its certainty. You walk along it, without a clue as to where it's taking you, yet feeling the urge to keep moving. You stop from time to time to catch your breath, and stand still in the midst of darkness, you shiver as your mind creates terrifying images all around you.And just as you're about to panic, your reflexes kick in and you start moving again.
Soon you begin to stumble, realizing the floor is covered with some sort of bumps, but you keep moving.A horrid stench envelops you, and you hardly keep yourself from stopping. The smell seems familiar, yet extremely unpleasant. And then it hits you. It's the smell of rotting flesh. You stop and barely manage to keep your insides. You decide it's best you go on, no matter what.
After about thirty feet, you stop.Up ahead, in the distance, you see a shimmering light.Filled with hope you take a step and hear a crack.Like wood cracking. And as your mind begins to hypothesize as to what those bumps on the floor are, you start running, heading for the light, heading toward what you already decided that is the way out...

Introduction

Sing a little song of you,
Sing of what I'm s'posed to do.
Tell a joke, tell a lie,
Just so you can see I try.
Spin the words, play my part,
Try to pass it off as art.
Open up for you to see,
But it's just a part of me.
