Start Here

New here? This page is a shortcut past eighteen years of archive — four pieces that give a real sense of what this site is, in about twenty minutes of reading.

Two eras, one site

Literary Endeavours started in 2007 as a personal blog of short fiction and poetry, went quiet in 2008, and started publishing again in July 2026. Both eras are here on purpose: the early archive is kept as-is (see the Editorial Policy for how it's handled), and new work is being published going forward. You don't need to read them in order.

Where to start

If you want the current voice of the site:

  • The First Crack — emotionally-driven short fiction, and the strongest single piece of the 2026 revival so far.
  • The Listening Planet — speculative fiction; first contact told from an unexpected angle.
  • I Cannot Sleep — a short poem; the fastest possible introduction if you only have two minutes.

If you want a taste of the early archive:

  • Destination — one of the more complete, self-contained pieces from 2007, kept as its own entry rather than folded into a collection.

The rest of the 2007–2008 archive is sorted into three collections:

After that

That's the whole early archive, sorted three ways. Nothing has been deleted or moved — every original piece is still live at its original address.
